If in fact it is "mint" it would bring a hefty sum. But, that would require it to have original finish and parts which is highly unlikely. If it has been refurbished by an armory (much more likely) and it is in great condition then you are looking at anywhere from $600-$1200 ballpark.
Be aware that with that serial # it is considered a "low-number Springfield". If you search this or other '03 forums using that term you will read much, much more about metallurgy than you would ever want to know. The generally accepted concensus is that these rifles are considered unsafe to shoot.

The rifle would have originally been in an "S" stock, not the C stock of the 1903A1.

It could have a C stock - that's what might make it a M1903A1 (assuming it was done by the military and not a former owner), but as Legaleagle said, it would be a replacement.

The replaced stock would take it out of the mint condition description even if everything else is "mint" and original.

in that serial number range,..its a 1903. not an 1903A1... no matter what stock it sits in.

Sounds like it might be a really nice rifle. I'd love to see some photos if he'll let you take some.

That's what I thought too, Chuck, but was waiting for an "expert" to chime in.

What is the 03a1 ser number range when new? I understand that any 03 that was rebuilt with a C stock is also a 03a1? or is it just a rebuilt 03 rifle in a new/updated stock?
I look at it the same as NM M1
rifles, yes there were rifles born as NM M1's and many were rebuilt into NM rifles, but are the rebuilt rifles any less NM?
