Unidentified French Musket
I was just sent photos of this unidentified French
musket. Anyone know what it is, or it's approximate value?
Approx .75 calibre, Barrel is 40", overall length is 55 inches. To my eyes, looks like the forestock wood was cut.
I realize the photos are somewhat lacking, but they are what I have.

I think it's a Model 1842. Mines rifled with a long range rear sight.

Edit: You are completely correct - I found confirming photos on another board. Strangely, I can't find much info about this rifle. Is it somewhat rare?

I don't think they're rare, just not a lot written about them. At least in the US.
