    Clandestine US raid into Mexico

Here's another story I heard from another old shooting buddy.
This fellow joined the US army sometime in the early 1920's, and was stationed at a Texas or New Mexico training base. He had a lot to do with packing mules and shooting the BAR. He also was a very good shot and would later open his own gunsmithing business.
Cattle rustling was a problem during the 1920's and the culprits were taking the stolen cattle into Mexico. So, the US army became involved in apprehending the thieves. This friend of mine was part of the soldiers that were to go into Mexico and put an end to the rustling operation. The soldiers were all horse mounted and not wearing army uniforms (?). My friend described themselves looking like comancheros.
Crossing into Mexico, they found the cattle rustlers and saw that it was a huge operation. The orders to attack was given and they charged towards the cabins the rustlers were in , shooting into the windows as they passed with their Colt revolvers. There was at least one soldier with a saber and he did use it (it gave my friend the shudders) on the thieves. I believe my friend said it was a no prisoner type of deal (?) . This put an end to the problem.
I cannot verify this story, so I am wondering if anybody else has heard of it. This friend passed away over twenty years ago and I still think of the chats we had at the shooting range.

It sure is possible. back then no FBI or any Federal organization. Maybe too big for the Texas rangers. If you knew the man you gut tells you if it was true or not. So you already know. Your never gonna run into anyone that heard the same thing. Men like that do not often talk about things like that.
