If you look up the word “FUN” in the dictionary . . . that picture should be there.

They had a couple of carbines at BPD when you were there, although you might not have seen them.

Amen! I actually shot the M1 Carbine better at 25 yards that day than the AR15! That is an original set of KAMO brand early Vietnam BEO GAM duck hunter I picked up on EBAY. The pants came from a vet in Utah, who had it since early 1960s, and the shirt came from a "rag shop" in Thailand that had lots of original SE Asia used fatigues: Tiger stripe, ERDL, Beo Gam, OD jungle fatigues, etc. Very light and comfortable. I have a bunch of 1960ish M1 carbine pictures with advisors wearing duck hunter.

Haha! I think it must be a voice from the past! (Bob Goulie, maybe?) I actually did see one of them. Messed around with it in the range with some M2 parts and an M1A1
stock as a possible entry weapon. IIRC, it was returned to M1 because SWAT had just trade UZIs for MP5s. That was my second experience with an M2s, the first being in the AF Security Police arms room '79-81.

Hey, I liked that picture too! I even went out and bought a similar cap to go with a Woodland Camo outfit that my older brother "handed down" to me. Next to my 22's, I can shoot better at 25 yds with my carbines than any other long guns I own. - Bob

The 30 m1 carbine is not for me. I prefer a pistol in 30 caliber for personal defense. Very efficient. gary

Gary, with a comment like that I might wonder why you are reading the Carbine forum?
It's because you are getting an itch for one, come on, admit it.
The second shot in low light out of a .30 carbine handgun is fun. Quite the flash.

Nope, The pistol I use is a Chinese issue 54-1 Tokarev. I have one M1
carbine left. an IBM West German
issue. I peruse the entire forum. I find things that plunk my interest. gary

I remember the first time I shot my carine with the origional iron sights, It was raining, and I was on the front porch of the old homeplace. My B-I-L had a buck target for his bow out at around fifty yards. I aimed for the center of the right antler, squeexed the trigger, and shot it slap into! I remember grabbing my drill, a dowel rod and some glue, and put it back together before he got home. But I was so excited about the shot , that I had to show him so he would believe how accurate it was! LOL
