Shooting No. 2 Mk IV*
Hi all.
I have a No 2 .22 that I would like to shoot. It is based on a Lithgow
SHT LE III* 1918 action. Butstock is marked: MA, No.2, Mk IV*, 3/49 R. Magazine is marked .22 on the left with a healthy dent on the right side. It's got lots of other 'character' marks on the stock and forend. The rifle has NOT been sporterized and the bore is sweet!
My question is what are some good sight settings for 25, 50 and 100 yards? The rifle has the original .303 non-windage sight with markings from 200 to 2000 yards. Any pointers?
Thanks
Stuart

For standard velocity ammunition, with centre hold aim, I use 400 for 50m, 500 for 75m and 550 for 100m
High velocity 425 for 50m, 500 for 75m, and 575 for 100m
I guess that yard ranges will need slightly different settings than metre ones!

I think mine needs slightly higher settings. But just changing lot numbers of the same ammo usually means some adjustment as well. I forget what numbers I used for 300yds, as it wasn't accurate enough to try again. 200, I think need about the 800yd setting.

Thanks
I'll try those next time I go to the range. I didn't want to waste a lot of ammo just trying to get on the paper.

Mine was at the range for the first time last week. Need to adjust the front sight as it still shoots a little left with a AJ Parker rear peep sight and I ran out of adjustment. Using a little "Kentucky Windage" it was very accurate. Hit lots of clays at 100.
Would have adjusted it at the range but didn't have a brass drift with me.
I must say I was a little surprised just how well it would shoot.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
