"Authentic CMP" Inland Carbine
Would this carbine have left the CMP
equipped as shown in the auction? I've heard they don't ordinarily have slings and oilers. That type sling is not generally accepted as being USGI, and I believe the cast recoil plate may be post war. Nice acceptance stamp too. Maybe the seller isn't implying that the accessories came from the CMP, but he is saying all the parts on the gun did. - Bob

Hey Bob,
The metal is probably as it came, but what would concern me more is the history of this particular seller.
He's definitely known to mix real with fake. The acceptance stamp may be fine, however he has a known history of faking these as well.

I would expect any CMP
carbine to be 100% USGI, and from what I can tell it is. I cannot say if it 100% 'AS-MANUFACTURED' but parts could have been replaced between 1945 and whenever this one was taken out of service.

About the only thing I would really question is the Neidner(N) front sight. At that late of a date I would suspect a Rudy Furnace(R) front sight. Neidner lost the contract in fall of 1944 and Rudy Furnace was awarded the contract at that time.

Yeah, it's probably all USGI parts but I'm questioning whether it has the same parts as when it left the CMP
. Would they have replaced the bolt with one showing no wear on top, in relation to the wear evident on the receiver? It doesn't even look like the stock has been oiled since the IO was stamped in the slingwell and the acceptance stamp just looks too fresh to me. I've owned a sling like that with the odd weave and green "speckles." The sling also has the shiny black "scant" C tips that are questionable. Also, the 2 rivet handguard wouldn't be the right for a late Inland. I never thought about the front sight until I saw lbelflowers' post, but I think he's right - then I noticed what looks like some "doctoring" of the muzzle area in front of the sight. - Bob

Old Sam is at it again and the SG he also has for sale is once again another put together with real and fake parts.

Thank You to Bruce McAskill For This Useful Post:

Bruce,
He stays at it.
Smart enough now to wait until the parts (especially receivers) time out on the auctions and the pictures can't be pulled back up to follow his builds.
He's been buying heavy on ebay also again.
Same color used on every stock......... Same batch of fake CC stamps,
I especially hate the way they tint their pictures green, to give that aged look.

Charlie,
Do you think the green tint could just be a result of taking the pictures with fluorescent lighting? I've had that happen to me.

How about the CC stamp? Any thoughts on it??? It looks suspect to me.

Looks like a poor quality fake to me.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
