03A3 rebarrel in .308 Win
Anyone have experience in rebarreling a 1903A3 in .308 Winchester. Looks to be straight forward except possible problem with the magazine follower and feeding? Appreciate any input as to your experience.

It is a coversion that isn't done much. You gain nothing in velocity when going from a .30-'06 to a .308. Most guys don't bother to do it.

Very true Steve, but the velocity and ballistics has nothing to do in this case. The rifle needs to be rebarreled that is a given. I have thousands of LC 7.62mm cases on hand to reload and very few .30-06 cases left to reload after a number of years use. So it would be the cost of a new barell plus the cost of a new supply of .30-06 cases versus the use of the .308 cases I have and only have the cost of a new barrel. For me it's a simple matter of logistics and cost, not ballistics, nor the .30-06 vs the .308 performance argument.

Try to track down Chuckindenver. He does lots of US GI stuff and can help in the decision process.
