Best scope mount for Mosin91
I have a nice mosin 91 B marked barrel rifle. Shoots nice 3" groups with surplus ammo, would do better if I could actually see the front sight! I'd like to put a scope on it. What's the best, no alteration scope mount? Do I need an extended eye relief scope? I am wondering if a 4x extended eye relief scope (marketed as a handgun sight would do the trick? Not looking to change to bent bolt. Thanks for any tips.

Glad you aren't considering permanent alterations to your M91.
There was a gentlemen one of the local ranges yesterday that had a scope mounted in place of the rear sight leaf on his M91/30. He said that he had tried several different "pistol" scopes (for the eye relief) and they all failed under the heavy recoil. He ended up with a scope that he said was made by Leatherwood. I can't remember what the name was, now, but I could pick the name out of a line up.
He said that with everything loc-tited in place, it works fine.

Hello,
Can you see a fiber-optic?
Is it a 91/30 or an M91? They changed rear sight bases.
... though, on either one, if you remove the rear sight base, you will find a 3/8" dovetail that will accept airgun 'scope mounts and, properly mounted, will hold fine. I recommend the this:

UTG 11mm to Weaver Adapter, Adjustable: Amazon.com: Sports Outdoors
That said, I'm Smith-Sights and recommend you stay with open sights if at all possible, if you have a 91/30 or post-1930 carbine!
Regards,
Josh
