Cocooned lithgow
Hello gents,
I picked up a Lithgow
fairly recently that is wrapped in brown paper and sealed in a plastic wrapper. It hasn't been removed from the wrapper and is still sealed apart from where the plastic has been broken to remove the bolt and read the serial number. Do any of you gents who were around in the 50's and 60's recall rifles being sold from the factory like this. I was told this is how lithgow sold some SMLE's to the public. Would this be right?
The rifle was FTR'd in 1955 and there doesn't appear to be any grease on the gun from what I can see.

Sure thing.
Nothing terribly exciting to look at and probably the most expensive bit of plastic I'll ever buy but..... well I have an illness.
