Lithgow sht le 1919 questions
i have had a Lithgow 1919 enfleid for a while now and just started to do some research and learned a few things on it. i learned it was Australian Rifle. now i would like to know some more. the rifle on the is the one with the DP stenciled on it. now i know what the DP stands for, that the Rifle was Drill practice. but what i wanted to know possibly what would have it retooled, and is it now still safe to fire? Is it now still safe to fire? No-one on the forum can confirm that just by looking.
This topic has been covered several times in detail on the Lee Enfield forum, by Peter Laidler and others with professional experience.

The basic rule is: since you do not know why it was marked as DP, you must assume that it is not fit to fire live ammunition until it has been thoroughly checked out and judged to be OK by someone who knows what to look for and how to check it.
