The SMLE .22 trainer with Garand rear sight (officially military adopted)

It's an officially converted rifle done in 1972. Please also note the transit chest in the background!

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool skeptic, especially when money is involved. In the partially hidden chest markings I think I can see ",62M" - 7,62MM? The fake stamps on the butt disc raise a little red flag.

Italy had quite a lot of Enfields. The Italian Navy was using No. 4's (in fact they did not - but they had piles of them), see Euroarms - Enfield Rifles FROM ITALIAN NAVY for example pictures of those.

They also had No. 4 T's with newly manufactured scopes and transit chests. I am not saying that the transit chest shown in the picture is the one the rifle came with, however I know that Italy also had transit chests for the No. 4 T snipers they were using (as they did with the M1D Garand snipers they also had).

I've taken a second, closer look at the transit chest. It appears to be one of the mentioned for the M1D Garand with the M84 scope

Hmmm, and then wave the little red flag around.. the rear sight protector is on backwards.

Interesting adaption of the taller front sight, though... The repair on the back of the foreend has the wrong shape to it also.

If there were more of the same around then I could be swayed, but skeptical also at the moment.

La conversione comprende le mire regolabili a diottra derivate dal Garand M1, ricameratura della canna originale in .303

con liner in 22lr.

Serbatoio originale svuotato, l'arma è monocolpo.

Meccanica in eccellenti condizioni, segni di camolatura sulla canna esterna, legni in discrete condizioni.

Provata nel poligono interno dell'armeria, precisione eccellente.
