M1 Carbine Sling Question USGI or not?
Hi. I had the occasion to buy some slings for the M1
carbine. Are these USGI or not? Are the slings from wwii, korea or vietnam era ? Pictures from top to bottom: The slings are unmarked, with the exception of the bottom sling. The metal tabs are marked mrt 8-63. The top one comes with rau fastener, the other slings with united carr fastener. Any help welcome.

Post-WWII slings. MRT-63 means treated for mold and rot-treated in 1963. I think they're all G.I. but I'm not the 'sling guy' around here. I would expect these slings to have been used from after WWII until the carbine was taken out of service.

Not WWII by the #2 tips but possibly Korea or Vietnam.

So, then a C-tip sling like I have on one of my carbines could be WWII issue despite being stamped MRT 53 on it then. I always assumed it was the year the sling was made...now I know!

Sorry, it was not 'mold' it was 'mildew'. They did this when putting up web gear for extended storage.

Marked usually between the snap and end. Unsnap, open, and look. Not all slings were marked.
BTW, my Vietnam carbine had a nylon sling.

Thank you. There ar no markings on the web between snap and end. MRT 8-63 marking is stamped in the tab of the third sling (slings showing from top to bottom). First sling has metal tabs with a dark grey finish (parkerized or blackened?). I guess the other slings have tabs made from brass.

Got it. I was trying to look on mine to see if it was marked what yours had, but didn't know where to look. Because it was obvious it wasn't between the snap parts.
