There certainly are some toosers on ebay eh Peter (see listing). I recently sold a fully working '79 CWC mechanical watch on there - issued and not sold 'as new' and the tooser demanded a partial refund due to some very minor scratches in the case (but it was issued, I said - if you want a new watch, buy new). Because of the way feedback works you're over a barrel a bit as a seller...

You're right. Expecting a 1979 watch to be like new and unused is a bit of a non starter....... like this telescope! Anyone else come across these toosers?

I thought the piccies and description were self explanatory. What the f....er..heck was the problem?
And I would expect some good size scratches on any issued watch to be honest.

Although ebay is a great way to bring together item and buyer it's getting increasingly annoying to use. For one thing people who turn down stuff for very minor reasons (especially annoying with old stuff which is never going to be flawless) seem to also expect you to pay for the original postage and for it to be returned too. It's not as if people who sell the odd bit they've got for whatever reason offer the same customer service as amazon or argos!
I seem to remember Peter (now aka 'the seller') mentioning that he'd sold a refurbished no32 scope to someone who was going to pass it on to an 'expert' to see if it was genuine - which I think set new standards for ebay buyer stupidity.

A good example of why individual actions aren't reliable indicators of overall market value. The first time the Zf41 scope was listed the high bidder didn't cough up 640 pounds. The second auction a week or so later and the thing sells for 1023 pounds! I got minorly involved in the chase, but it wasn't a high priority item, so missed out both times.

Ah, but the value - as opposed to the PRICE - is what two people want to pay on the day. A good example is, say, a No32 sight put on an auction site over Xmas/new year. The same amount of people WANT one but the same amount of people ain't got the money at that time. Like they say. The best time to buy your car is during hard times...... hard time that is, for other people!
