Great little rifles.
Had the best day of an admittedly limited squirrel season with a grooved version.:

Just about all head shots that day.
Have also my late uncle's 69A. Probably the first rifle I ever fired.

Very nice. Mine has a grooved receiver too but it isn't a chromed version. It looks like yours might be.

Trigger and bolt look chromed:

Upgraded with Weaver 6x scope from my first scope ever: A KMart 4x (in the upper photo). It's very tired. And abused. But it still performed.
When was the grooved receiver first manufactured?

After WW2 is as close as I can find. It looks to me like our rifles could have been built any time from 1946-1963. That narrows things down.

By the way. You probably all ready knew this but I found out that the trigger on these is adjustable. Mine is now at a very nice 3 lbs.
I have a Redfield 75 receiver sight that I am going to put on this one. I have enough scoped rifles.
