Italian
arsenal rebuild and conversion to .308 in 1971. Barrel would have been new then. The condition of the backsight bodes ill for general state of care. Properly cared for, the Italian rebuilds are very good, and actually more desirable for competition shooting than originals in 30-06.

The back sight looks to be caked in grease...dry grease. The whole rifle looks to have come from storage. Almost unused.

There are several types floating around, maybe 4 or 5 different logo styles. Yours seems to be the most common. Very neat!

I have an Italian
M1
Garand made by Beretta in ,308. It is a commercial weapon I traded a perfect Winchester 1917 for it. Long ago...... Gary..

The Garands in the picture have been in the Danish
Defence. FKF stands for Forsvarets Krigsmateriel Forvaltning (Defence War Material Administration). Waffen Schumacher in Germany
refurbished a lot of old Danish receivers with new barrels, stocks etc. a few years back. They can still be found in Europe at around 900$.
