M1A1 Carbine stock Fat Boy vs Slim Jim
Does anyone have pics of what the fat boy pistol grip stock looks like compared to a slim jim?
I am looking at an M1A1
stock that has HIGH wood. Everything checks out on the stock, but I have heard that the first block run of these stocks (Oct 42 to Dec 43...otherwise known as the D-Day drop stocks!) have high wood stocks with the fat boy pistol grip, not the slim jim.
Despite googling this to death I cannot find pics that compare them.
Thanks!

This is the early pistol grip.

I don't have a later one, they are also marked differently on the bottom of the grip. They can be changed quite easily (and were), so you may see a late grip on an early stock. I'm no expert so I'll let others comment on that.

Thanks, but unfortunately those pics are a bit too far to see any details in the pistol grip. What are the different markings you are referring to? Hopefully if someone has a pic of a slim jim it shows obvious differences?
