1935 Enfield and 1943 Albion

Hello all. Took some pictures of my No2 revolvers today and figured I'd put them up on here. I have shot them both and they are quite fun, but lately I haven't been able to find any .38S&W.

The Enfield is Ex Rhodesian and the barrel is dated 1932, do the numbers on the fame and barrel match?

I believe it is actually "52". They are matching, but it is "forced" matched with electro pencil I believe.

very nice pair of revolvers and lovely accouterments as well , congrats on those ,

the grip scales on your 1935 date to 1942-45 so were most likely switched at the '52 FTR is there a mark like that slightly in front of the trigger on right side of frame ? the correct scales would most likely be the reeded walnut depending on the serial prefix [late "C"/very early "D"] they might have been the earlier checkered walnut , but ill bet not ,
those scales are correct for the albion tho ,

I have observed another type of grip but these maybe a proto type as they appear to be very rare.

The Enfield actually came with another pair of grips I have in my toolbox, but they had some give to them as the holes made to line up with the pegs on the frame and broken. The grips on it now I believe I got from Numrich. They fit almost as good as original ones.

should fit just fine , these were made and upgraded as they went but the frame they fit did not really change , the photo above indicates what should be in place at the given dates and serial sequence , you can see why i said what i did regarding the serial number , so what did the ones that came with it [the ones in your tool box] look like ?

When any of them came through our workshops they inevitably went out with the last plastic bakelite type grips that were the most comfortable OR, if they were perfect, the similar wood 'high' grips. But these were always moodified in UK service (and presumably others who used our EMER's) by having the left side top overhang reduced to clear the Catch, Barrel.

I mentioned it somewhere else that my issue No2 revolver had a set of grips that I made from a broken branch from a plum tree in my mums orchard garden. Carried it all over the Far East........., just made me feel a bit closer to home! Mind you, a few tins of Tiger beer had the same effect!

peter , can you shed any history on the ones brit plumber shows or are they someones custom fabrication like yours of the home harvested lumber ?
