New (to me) '44 Colt

I tought I would share my latest purchase on the forum. It is my first "original" M1911A1. My others have either been refinished or have replacement parts. I was really looking for a '42 or early '43 with numbered slide, but could not pass up a good deal on this one:



It is originally from Scott Gahimmer, I purchased it from a CGN member who purchased it from Scott and imported it to Canada.

To be honest, I don't know.... what draw back are you referring to?
Am I "gonna shot it ?..." Heck no, this one is a collector, not a shooter! I have a rough '44 Ithaca and a modern Springfield Armory 1911A1 for when I feel like shooting .45

The unfortunate "idiot mark", made by improper replacement of the takedown pin. Mind you, I'm not calling you an idiot it's the slang term for that particular scratch.

Were the U.S. fighting men idiots? The GI installed the slide stop the way he was taught, and sometime blindfolded, so to me that doesn't make him an idiot for putting a little scratch on a pistol.

We don't know who did it or when, but weather you like the term or not is irrelevant, that's what it's called. Google it, you'll see.

If you don't know who did it, you are still assuming that it was a GI that did it. Why use it at all? A little jealousy over the new owner's nice Colt?

I feel to make the gun authentic it needs that scratch though I would prefer it to be as light as possible, unless of course you're lucky enough to get a new one that was either never issued or issued and never taken out of the box or just stuck in a drawer until the war ended.
I thought about renaming it?
1. Why is the drill Sargent yelling at me while I'm trying to field strip my weapon....scratch?
2. Why are they shooting at me can't they see I'm trying to clean my weapon....scratch?
3. (My favorite) oops these things are really tight when their new....scratch!
