Had a chance to take some friends out with me to shoot a handful of milsurps. It was a Russian themed day. It was their basally first interaction with firearms and their first milsurp experience. Thought you guys might enjoy some of the footage I took of the day.
We had 3 SVT-40's, a PU and a WASR 10.

As to newbies and military rifles.
If you want to have some fun with them, give them a "regular" bolt action rifle, say K98, '03 or Enfield.
Then the fun starts. After they have learned to work the "regular" rifle, hand them a M95 Steyr! Watching them try to open the bolt and flipping the safety off and on as that will help! After a few minutes with them saying "how do you get it open" you have to take pity on them and say like this, and pull the bolt straight back.
Ah the faces they make. Mean I know.
Nothing like sharing your toys in the sand box. Great video and entertaining.
Question-Would a 91/30 scope fit in a 1" ring? I am looking for something to put on a build,, war time quality but a little cheaper.
