CASM Overbore M1 Garand Scope Mount
Anyone here have any first hand experience with these mounts? How's the fit? Do they hold zero?
Would like to do a bit of deer hunting this coming season with the M1
but the open sights just ain't cutting the mustard. I have never favored the aperture type sights for low light shooting, they made it tough for me to make out the target. Now my close in vision is to the point where I can't see the rear sight clearly even in good light. While glasses fix that problem they make the front sight and target look like a chia pet.
Most aftermarket M1 mounts I've seen are of the offset variety which I don't care for and they all appear to be unstable junk, with the exception of the CASM overbore offering. I've researched it a good bit and while there's plenty of input as to how well it's made and how it attaches I can find very little on fit or how well it holds zero under actual shooting conditions.
It sounds promising but I'd hate to find out the hard way it's not all it's cracked up to be considering it's a fairly pricey mount that requires the use of a modified clip latch to function properly.

I have somewhere an "Amegaranges"/CMP
barrel mount that has worked well, but it makes the rifle feel surprisingly heavier. Seems to add accuracy above what just adding the scope would do, however. Probably some beneficial damping effect.
