Am I Missing Something Here...?
This Arisaka
Type 99 with bayo & scabbard just sold on GunBroker:
JAPANESE ARISAKA TYPE 99 RIFLE 7.7 mm Penny Start : Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com
Price is unbelievable... I understand that it is a low s/n with seemingly all original attachments, plus bayo, frog & scabbard but cannot fathom the price it sold for. What am I missing?

It ain't mentioned in the description that I saw but it just happens to be a Nagoya T99 Long rifle, only 8000 were made. That might have something to do with it.

VH has it. The combination of rarity, excellent condition, mum, matching nos. and accssories makes for the "perfect storm" for the seller. Also two or more collectors that really want it and have the money. Salt Flat

But over $2600.00? I don't get this. Horrible pictures and a horrible description. Right place, right time I guess

Just good example of how crazy auction prices can get when two deep pockets get in a bid fight. Reminds me of the L42 lens brush bottle that sold on ebay a while back for almost $1800 USD. The next one that came up for auction there didn't even come close to fetching $100. Go figure......

Funny I do not remember bidding on that.

Just a question, is that mono pod a bit short for a 99 long? Ray
