T38 bolt problem
Hello all,
I'm piecing together a type 38 and ran into a problem getting my bolt to slide into the receiver. I line the extractor up correctly and pull out on the bolt release. When I do that the ejector seems to come out and stop the bolt from going forward anymore. What's the problem here? Thanks for your help.

Is it the magazine floor plate coming up and stopping the bolt from going into the rifle? If so push down on the magazine and the bolt should slide in.

It's not necessary to do this to insert the bolt with Arisaka
's. The lugs are designed to ride over the bolt stop in that direction.

If the floorplate ain't whats catching it then remove the ejector and see if it goes all the way in. It don't happen too often but once in a while the ejector needs a bit of stoning so the bolt will fit and ride smoothly in the rails.

Magazine floor plate is not installed in the receiver at this time.

Another question then, you say you are building this from parts, is it possible you have a Type 99 bolt not a Type 38? Pictures really help with explaining what is happening.

I thought the same thing but I compared it to the bolt out of my T99 and it is definitely different. Will post pictures when I get home. Thank you

Only likely thing that comes to mind is that because the ejector is actuated by the rear left bolt lug , having the release held open prevents the ejector tail from getting out of the way. Let go the release once the bolt has started in and see if that does the trick.
Other thoughts, both odd, is the front of the sear unit might be hitting, as it acts as a stop to prevent release unless bolt is shut all the way upon trigger pull. could the trigger be partially pulled or...?
Ejector not timed to this bolt? That would be weird, but if the little ramped cut at the back isn't working with the ejector properly...Or is the ejector adrift in the bolt stop housing?
New one on me.
