Definitely been refinished. It probably would've had a Du-Lite finish but the s/n is very close to when Ithaca switched over to Parkerizing

Ithaca Model 1911A!
Mine is s/n 891768 and it is a darker color like a fine Parkerizing finish, Barrel is blued and the grips have the ring around the screw holes too. My came from my father's friend who was a radio operator in a USN PB4Y-1 (B-24) Liberator out of Devon. He never used it nor fired it as he had his own S&W 38 cal revolver.
Your Ithaca was blued at somepoint after the war. There are some really good gunsmiths that could attempt to restore it back to the original color. The Ithaca stampings are not very deep so something may be lost in a restoration. I would have it carefully parkerized if it were mine.

Thank you for the info. I'm glad that it's a real Ithaca. I think I'm going to keep it as is.

Please post some pictures of your pistol. Since Ithaca was going to Parkerized finish, from DuLite, the guns in this transition are especially important.
