L42 at the range
Took the L42, transit case and full ensemble to the range today. All the 100 and 200 yard lines were taken so I had to shoot at 50 yards. Easy to forget how accurate these things are. Ok it's onl 50 yards but either centering or at worst cutting the edge of dime sized stickers (when I didn't do my part properly) is still a heap of fun. I have more trouble with traditional targets with larger black as i tend to lose the point of the reticle.

They are wonderfully accurate rifles, but 50 yds ... You must have really wanted to shoot!
I don't blame you, they really are superb rifles to own and shoot, I am still putting the case to my wife why we "need one"...

I told SWMBO that I had sold 2x Enforcers so it was just a 2-for-1 swop. (Price didn't get discussed) so everything went hunky-dory.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I was doing alright my clandestine plan went well for a new addition to the Mk III line up and it was squirreled away in another gun safe with the seldom use and safe queens when the minister for finance and war came across a credit card statement
I got flamed and char-coaled for the effort which the guys at the rifle club thought so hilarious they nicknamed me CINDERS ~ The MFFAW has since allowed to purchase a Sniper "T" but that's the final one, caught again and I had better move to the Vienna boys choir......

Perhaps we should start a Misurps section exclusivity aimed at pooling ideas and darn right sneaky plans to hoodwink the Minister of Finance .... I would propose this working title "why buying X is a good idea, dear" Section.

The only problem is when "Dear" comes to sell your treasures after you have departed, I know a lot of lads in our club who have £100 rifles only....well thats what Dear was told when they were purchased.

My other half knows exactly what my little collection is worth. I found the trick was to convince her that each piece is in fact an investment giving a return far and away better than any Bank account could offer

I was a gunacholic when we first met almost 40 years ago. She knew what she was getting when she married me. As long as the house payment is made, groceries are in the fridge, gas is in the tank of her new car, and there is cash in the account, I don't hear a lot from my better half. (except for the time I brought home a PIAT and she said "please don't start collecting those things, as they will multiply")

All joking aside, I am in the very fortunate position of having a very understanding wife regarding firearms, her father was an RFD in the late 60's and on through the 1970's, so she was brought up with all sorts of firearms about the house when she was a kid.
She inherited her fathers v bull trigger finger too, having a 99 average at .22 prone shooting before she gave it up a few years back...way better than my 97 average..stupid bloody sport anyway!
As long as what I buy doesn't go down in value (and hopefully rises) she is very cool about it and has come to appreciate my Enfield's, L1A1's and the Springfield.
As Simon rightly say's, That is the way to "sell" the idea of a new rifle, as an investment, if its a classic collectable Milsurp, then that's a fact, they are going up in value all the time..

I do the same but she asks when I am going to sell them..... she was over the moon though when I mentioned a lot of the bayonets are going, forgot to mention whats taking there place. (need to put the price tag on that when it arrives)
Still she didn't bat an eyelid when the new milling machine arrived but wouldn't believe what I paid for it........ sometimes you just can't win.
