Looks to be a couple of English blokes sitting in the foreground. Helmets and web gear are a dead give away

Bill,
Highly likely Royal Engineers Mine clearance, having done their bit

Or possibly an RN Beach Control Party who marked the landing beaches, exits, etc. They would have worn the same BD and webbing.

Paul,
Could be mate, but it looks like a sweeper standing upright behind him. Its not a rifle with a bayonet standing that upright, unless he is the worst British
soldier ever, digging his barrel into the sand

If you look also at the sand behind the American soldier in the gap you can see a detector on the otherside on its own, presumably his mates

Gil, it's hard to tell Mate. At 300% magnification it appears the bloke standing and facing toward the camera has his hands grasping his webbing at chest level and the white at the front below his waist appears to be space between his legs. The seated bloke at the left appears to be holding something up to or near his head which had me thinking W/T.
