I just purchased the bayonet and sheath. $176. How did I do?

Why is there such a range on prices for these?

    Question

To me that is a bit rich.
I have one in near new condition that I only gave $75 for about 5 yrs ago.

Hard to judge price and value on these. Obviously it's what someone is willing to pay and obviously someone else was willing to bid at least up to $5 less than you did so it's not like you're going to lose money in the long run. Possibly the biggest issue is the condition. There are a lot of near new SVT40 bayonets out there that are more desirable to the collector. I also paid significantly less for the one I got back in May of this year but it was mislabeled as a US bayonet and had some very light orange rust on it that basically just wiped off. Turned into one of the near mint types once wiped off. I have also seen similar ones to yours sell for $250, just depends on who wants it at the time. One thing is for sure, they are not common enough to get them cheap anymore.

I paid 240$ a couple years ago. Mind you this was bought in Canadaicon, and I wasn't willing to wait for a deal.

As with most weapons, original and non refinished brings more money. Same with the STV bayonets as it is with the SVT rifles themselves. A bayonet that has not been refurbed in most cases is worth more the one that went through the refinish process. Pretty refinished/re-blued SVT bayonets are valued quite a bit less then an original one with it's original un-blued blade and original finish grips by serious collectors. Ray
