There certainly seem to be quite a few 22 cal Enfields on the market, made in Oz. So yes, they did.

Surely the .22" training rifle issued for use in Oz was the little No2 rifle unless I'm missing something. We had loads and loads of them while I was in the Army there in the mid/late 60's. The School Cadets had them too because we used to do the inspections on them. My boss, Clive Connors had the only(?) No8 rifle in Oz at the time - that he'd liberated from Ordnance stocks in Taiping.

i wish there were enough on the market here to keep them more in line with regular .303 LE prices.

There is a No7 in the UKicon at present priced at £3895...... or maybe I should say over priced !! Think average for a No7 was around £1500, No2 generally sell for around £600 but earlier rifles converted from S.M.L.E. rifles (No.1) Marks II and of the earlier "Long Lee-Enfields" in their charger-loading Mark I* guise - the C.L.M.L.E will demand a higher premium if the seller knows what they have, in most cases they see it as a .22 Enfield.....

Thought I,d add part of a PM I received from Buccaneer, regarding the No7

"as the two rifles that have just gone through the sealed bid auction at Holts sold for £1950 & £1690 both had miss-matched magazines and were rather scruffy the cheaper of the two had some serious wood damage around the trigger area"
