I was able to turn that receiver into a functioning rifle, so I thought I would share the finished product.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Nice looking rifle. I have sn 63282 which also has the extra narrow rib on the left side, those extra ribs did not last much longer in production. My barrel is S-A 9-40 with the rare revision 3, most 1940 barrels from July to Dec were
either revision 2 or revision 4. My bolt is a revision 2 heat lot X 1 which came from a 61K rifle from Calif years ago. Very difficult to restore any gas port 1940 rifle nowdays

Hard and expensive, I was much happier making it a shooter. Maybe in the future I'll try.
