Jim "Wyoming" Penton, a member of the 10th Mountain Division 87th Regiment Service Company (SVC), stands on a bluff over Broad Beach on Kiska Island in Alaska; U.S. and British
flags are nearby. The 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment was in the Aleutians as a part of Amphibious Task Force 9. Boats and amphibious vehicles are in the water in the distance.
THERMOPOLIS - A memorial service for James "Wyoming Jim" Louis Penton, 90, of Forestburg, Texas, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the chapel of Mortimore Funeral Home in Thermopolis, with the Rev. Steve Frank, of Community Federated Church officiating. A graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
He died Sept. 22, 2005, at Northeast Medical Center, in Bonham, Texas.
Born July 4, 1915, in Shoshoni, he was the son of John Louis and Myrtle Wolfe Penton. He served in World War II and was a member of the 10th Mountain Division. He was a lay speaker for the Methodist Church. In his leisure, was a model railroading enthusiast.
