M1 Carbine in a gun shop. Estimated value? (pic heavy)

I know nothing about these, so I'm asking for opinions on a M1 Carbine I came across for sale.

The bore is bright and shiny with no obvious signs of wear.

The story is that it saw service in Israel, not that I'd buy it for the story.

I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Non-matching, rebuilt, import marked by Davidsons and what is that finish on the stock? Davidson's is known to have imported carbines from Israel but this isn't like the ones that I've seen. I'll take a stab at $750-$800, but up to $1,000 here in Denver if it was at one of the local gun stores.

Ignore the look of the finish on the stock. That is glare from the florescent lighting, and nothing more. It is not refinished.

Israel did stamp numbers on stocks like that. An Inland import marked carbine no here in GA would be no more then $750 if condition of all parts is good.

Its a re-import from Israel. Probably came in during the early '90s. Previously rebuilt, probably after WWII, by Augusta Arsenal. The 5-round magazine is not USGI but hang on to it if you get the carbine. Looks like a stock from a Winchester. Barrel, receiver and trigger housing MAY have been together since it was made in '43. Bolt looks good, blued, not Park'd. Type II barrel band looks suspicious. Probably was equipped with a Type III (bayonet lug) at the rebuild. Overall it looks very good. The stock and handguard would benefit from some steaming and other attention. Israeli imports are usually held in high regard because their armorers were very well-trained and only U.S. spare parts were used. Weapons were cared-for and stored properly, unlike some other countries. Getting an Israeli is about as close as it gets to getting one from CMP with the exception of the import mark and large, deep serial numbers on the stock. I'd say these marks are probably worth $200, so a $1000 carbine with them is worth $800 tops.
I would say this carbine saw service in WWII, Korea, and however it was used in Israel. I would want to know more about the bolt and the barrel band. The bolt looks basically new, and the carbine most likely had been fitted with a later 'round' bolt. I would check the barrel band for markings and to see if it looks like the bayo lug extension had been cut off. IOW, I think it has had some minor 'messing-with' over the last 25 years but it still is mostly correct (and may be entirely correct for an Israeli depending on the bolt and band).

Thank you all for the responses so far. Selling price is $850 (NY prices), certainly not a deal, so unless something else comes up, I'll be passing on this.

They also had a "Universal" for sale with Williams peep sight for $475. Passing on that as well, as I prefer milsurp.

Barrel band is most likely a victim of NY gun laws. Any semi-auto rifle with detachable magazine, and one other feature makes it an "assault weapon". No mags over 10 rounds. Bayonet lug is one of the evil features.

$850 is the selling price but show up with $750 cash and see if they bite. If not, buy one off of gunbroker, that same $850 will get you a non import all day long.
