Waffenampt at the pommel, for acceptance. The line you see is actually the eagle's wings. The number may be a serial but I don't think they marked them to rifles either. The other is a factory ID... There'll be more along to help.

The clc44 marking is the manufactures code and stands for Richard Herder, Solingen, the 44 is the date of manufacture 1944. The Waffenampt # is assigned to a inspector so you could tell who inspected it.
Would it be possible to get a pic of the whole bayonet and scabbard if you also have that.

Sorry to say, no it does not match 2106498. I have been away a few days so that is the reason I did not respond sooner. I have some more questions about marks but always like to see if I can figure them out for myself first. What I am looking for is a good reference book for markings on US M1
bayonets. I might end up putting it up as a post if I cant sort it out myself!
