Sure is Quiet in Here
Seems very quiet, even for quiet summers.

All the prices are up! Hard to find new/old stuff and brag about the deal found.

Its the summer silly season for me, chasing my fair weather hobbies such as enjoying my performance cars and whatnot.
Since it's quiet and we are in the OT section I will fill up some space:
2009 Shelby GT500, 5.4L DOHC Supercharged V8 makes 742HP to the back tire, has run 11.22 @ 132 mph with only 660 RWHP, should be good for high 10's in current trim.

2003 Ford SVT F150 Lightning, 5.4L SOHC Supercharged V8 makes about 420 RWHP, runs a 13.1, it's my daily driver truck.

1995 Mustang GTS, 5.0L Windsor V8, with Kenne Bell Supercharger, no idea what the power is, 380-425 RWHP, it was my first V8 Mustang and street hooligan car so it enjoys an "easy" life now.

My wife's 2011 Mustang GT Convertible, 5.0L DOHC Coyote V8, it's stock makes 412 HP at the flywheel and she has raced it to a 13.1.

Recently I decided to take up motorcycling after 14 years of high performance cars, so i started with this 2005 Honda CBR-600 F4i, it's stock makes 110 HP, and I am still getting used to the dynamics of riding.

In addition I do amateur photography, videography, editing and "run" a "fake" performance shop called Grand Touring Concepts, it's real performance but not really a business, I just document my own and friend's builds as we work at various projects.
So summer season tends to keep me away from the shooting hobby, and the winter I shift focus back to firearms, which is why I shoot in -30*C sometimes.

I've been boating near Mystic CT. Have not made time lately for QHR&GC
Considering the licensing and purchase of a NAA .22 pocket piece.
Maybe gold plated 'just because'.

I have quietly been assembling the metal parts for a KAR98a. I have the rear band with screw, front hinged band with screw, stacking rod, stacking rod "nut". I still need a bayonet lug. I think that's the only hard part to still get. Still deciding on the new stock but leaning heavily in that direction.
My yard sale quests on Friday came up with some goodies. I got a US helmet, probably post war as it has all the post 1944 parts on it but no real idea when it was made. Came with an almost new liner for $25. As this was the helmet I had while I was in the Army, I've wanted one in any case. Same yard sale I picked up a M36 musette bag with carry strap for $5. It was pretty stiff and stained but I washed it with dish liquid and shampoo and it cleaned up to usable condition. Rear pouch has some nasty stuff in it. Daughter thought it might be blood and I'm somewhat inclined to agree with her. Two cleanings and it's still in there. I think the guy said he used it to go fishing, probably threw his fish in the back pouch. There is no odor however so a bit strange.

I just sobered up after 7 days in the Caribbean. The only guns down there where the two hanging from my shoulders.

I haven't been spending as much time doing firearms related stuff over the last couple weeks. I recently started hand woodworking (literally all hand woodworking even the plaining) and that on top of work has left me pretty exhausted. Coupled with less funds for the moment (I am planning my shopping for the end of the summer) it has lead to less time at the range (have only been once in the past 3 weeks which is the least I have gone in over a year) and purchasing firearms (though I have been researching a fair bit by reading books on the various topics).
I did almost purchase a updated M91 Carcano TS Rifle (aka the M28 Carcano) for cheap, however I have been successfully resisting the urge to buy it (though my resolve is weakening). Just too many other priorities at the moment, the fun can come later.
