1907 Hooked Quillon Bayonet
Guys, I need some help if you can please........
I've just took in, direct from the Island, a nice, albeit a little "crazed" hooked quillon bayonet, It's not worth me posting pictures , it cannot be easily seen...... let along photographed
The top is unit marked, as they usually were, but I'm a bit stumped because it looks like 5 F.V.N. and I cannot find a Regt with those letter abbreviations It could be EVN, or even RVN there's no FVN or EVN or RVN, there are the numbers 509 below, which I presume is a weapon number?
ok I've taken a couple with the microscope....
ta muchly fellas

You'll probably find a catch here if you mention it in a WTB...

Nope, they ARE a normal 1907. Remember many had the hook cut off and stayed in service. Then they made them without...can't have two different. Even the late ones made short by India are the same. With that said, you might have to touch them with a file to make them prefect. Nice honest bayonet there...Oct of '09...

Thanks for the replies on this one fellas...... it might just be worth buying an 07 to get the bits I need. The item has never been in a collection, I got it from the family. Used by their grandfather in the home guard during ww2, I know.....buy the item....not the story, but it's a nice touch
