P14 Rifle by ERA

I thought that members would be interested to see my P14 rifle which is a U.K deact. I believe this to be a fairly original piece with the exception of the butt disc which I think is repro. The volley sight has also been removed except for the stock plate. This is how the rifle came to me and I have made no changes to it. Please feel free to make any constructive observations known.

Not sure about the butt disc, it could just have been cleaned up. I'd want to look closer. It looks pretty good though, the whole rifle...

Very nice rifle. I have a P-14 made by Winchester .... are you able to shoot it in England?

Unfortunately not because it's deactivated (deac). I am more of a collector and enthusiast than a shooter.

Looks very good condition - do you have the 1913 bayonet to go with it?

I recently bought a Winchester P14* (1917 dated) which is live, but I haven't taken it to the range yet. The Home guard connection make them a nice rifle to have in the collection.

A very clean example of a Weedon Repair Standard Rifle, I always wondered why, with a nervous eye on Mr Hitlers European adventures they bothered removing the volley sights, I would have thought a cosmoline removal,check for serviceability and out to Ordnance would have been top priority.

I never seem to get round to buying a P14, I will one day, lovely rifles to shoot, accurate and built like tanks!

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the P14/17 rifle was the most technically advanced rifle of any rifle used during WW1.

If other members would like to add pictures of their P14 rifle to this thread it would produce an interesting piece.

Perhaps a moderator will transplant the thread for us then if I started it in the incorrect forum, please. I chose this one on the basis of the rifle being designed by Enfield but hadn't noticed that there was a P14 specific one.
