Lee Enfield No 4
Does anyone know if No4 exist without any markings on the left side of the receiver?

It would have been one that was never completed, inspected and had to have been stolen somewhere along the manufacturing line. Unless you have one that someone polished all the info off, and that would be hard. Got pics?

Here's a pic of the gun in question.

Can you take a shot of the left wrist as from this pic it looks to be a J (possibly?) at @9:00 o'clock 1/2" under the safety, does it have any markings on the action anywhere also the other side wrist.
Also where the gas port is I thought No.4's had a slight depression @1 1/4" long going from the reinforce to about 1.5" from the extractor screw could this have been linished out or as alluded taken from production before all the finishing was done

I don't think it would pass any close scrutiny or forensic scan. Most likely a Fazakerley that's been through the bead blaster and then blued. Looks like the bridge charger guide has been re-welded too.

I agree, it looks like the left side has been taken down where the marking should be. It could have been decades ago and then refinished so the finish isn't new. I think it's been altered. I know I could do that so to me it's simple.

Didn't the Indian Goverment right after independence go through a short period where they scrubbed all British
markings off Non Indian manufactured guns. I had a No 4 I sold that had some markings left on it from a rebuilt but any Brit markings were scrubbed. My old mentor that got me started on LEs said it was an Indian scrubbed rebuild. I can't remember what finish it was redone in though.

Right, but it had markings. This has not even a serial number as I understand. NO military has rifles they can't account for.

We had a similar episode a year or so ago with Savage rifles appearing without the US PROPERTY marks. Under the microscope they'd been clumsily obliterated
