91/30 Firing Pin Issues
Installed new firing pin in my 91/30 and she will shoot factory rounds yet will not fire military surplus rounds. I have adjusted the firing pin using the factory tool and even went deeper with the firing pin yet refuses to fire military rounds? Any suggestions?

May have to do with the primers on the military rounds being harder or they may be just old as you do not say how many times it failed did you wait the 30 sec(weapon pointed in a safe direction of course) re-cock the weapon and try again I have had POF
303 1967 vintage ammo do that to me a few times when I was using it had to pull the striker back and it went off the second time. That is one of the good things about the Lee and Mosins you can re-cock it without having to lift the bolt handle unlocking the action.
Mosin FP protrusion Spec is .075 inch. to .095 inch

Hello, Milsurp board.
Just joined this forum. Not sure how I missed it for so long. I was introduced to milsurps about 10 years ago when I saw an interesting old rifle in a pawn shop. Turned out to be a "bubba'd" Polish M44 and so began my education. I stayed Russian
for a while and eventually scored an Ishapore 2A and a few Mausers. Most recently, I finally went semi with a Norinco SKS acquisition.
I am a less frequent poster, more of a Q&A guy with a sarcastic barb or two, but not so chatty. Lots of reading, mainly.
This looks like a nice neighborhood and I'm looking forward to integrating.
Thanks.

Most likely a weak firing pin spring. Surplus primers are harder than commercial ones. If the problem just began and you've had the rifle a while, it may just be wearing out. If it was like that since you got it, it's possible a previous owner may have altered the spring. Some like to cut a few coils off in an effort to get a lighter trigger pull or make it easier to work the action, especially the "safety"
More often than not, they screw up a functional situation. You can replace the spring for a few bucks from any number of parts sites with another original, or you can go with a modern production spring from someone like Wolf Springs. I've never had a spring issue, so I have no firsthand experience to share.
