Perhaps download a complete set of manuals for the Lee Enfield, which includes operating and armourer's maintenance instructions.
2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Manuals (click here)
Complete Set includes:
- 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Data Summary
- 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Parts Identification List
- 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Operating Instructions
- 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Equipment Description
- 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Maintenance Instructions
1991 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Manuals (click here)
Complete Set includes:
- 1991 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Operating Instructions
- 1991 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Maintenance Instructions
Note: The difference between the 1991 set of No.4 Manuals and 2002 No.4 (All Marks) .303 Rifle Manuals, is that the 1991 manual contains armourer's information on how to properly "bed" the No.4 rifle, whereas the newer 2002 manual does not.
Hope this helps...
Regards,
Doug

I gather you have the rear sight raised as the bolt will not come out without it being so. There is a mod that can be done so it will come out with the sight down

I take it that we are talking about the No4 MK1* rather than the SMLE rifle. Have you rotated the end of your bolt 90 degrees anticlockwise after lining it up with the slot in the receiver before pulling the bolt back fully?

I gathered by his post 10uk "the bolt head is in the correct position" he had it rotated to the correct removal position.
Dukus4u ~ you will notice on the right side of the bolt race a small rail that assists holding and guiding the bolt head you can see the indent that this rides in on the Rt side of the bolt head. Towards the chamber end you will also notice the rail has a gap in it. Ensuring the rifle is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction, have the bolt to the rear, push the bolt towards the gap whilst holding the trigger, when the bolt head gets into the gap grip the bolt head and rotate it to the left, move the bolt rearwards now ensuring the rear sight is vertical the bolt should now come out reverse the procedure to place it back into the action. If it still does not come out read the manuals that Badger kindly posted or perhaps you need to find a gunsmith who is conversant with Lee Enfield Rifles

He hasn't actually said that he has rotated the bolt head anticlockwise after lining it up with the slot in the receiver. If he tries to rotate the bolt head with the bolt in any other position it is little wonder he is having difficulties.
