M1903 Springfield FRSB Cross Pin Inquiry
Does anyone have an idea where to find a replacement Cross Pin for a Fixed Rear Sight Base (1903 1903A1 Rear Sight Collar)?

They are very rarely for sale, however I have heard an appropriate sized roll pin can be used and trimmed to length.

I might be tempted to use a numbered drill bit shank cut to length. I would think you could find and exact size...

This is sort of "Bubba." But years ago, I needed one of these, and I had a set of cheap harbor freight punches sitting on my work bench. One of them was the perfect size and I cut it down and shaped it to the RSB. It worked great, but again sort of bubba too.
But I think a set similar to this is what I had sitting there and used.

Almost to the inch what I've done with numbered drill bits. Touch of blue on the ends and they're good.

Wow, I guess there's more Bubba in me than I thought! My first thought when reading the title to this thread was:
"The appropriate sized unfinished nail should work just fine........................."
