Always loved those little carbines, just don't see too many around here.

That's a beauty alright. Very rare to find the sight cover still in place. This is the regiment the disc is marked to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8th_Ca...ess_Louise%27s)
Considering how crisp the stampings in the stock are, the way the disc sits proud of the surrounding wood surprises me. Usually you see that when the stock and markings are heavily worn or sanded, but I doubt it's anything but original. The sold out of service marks are common on these.

Very nice and certainly been looked after, I've not long sold mine........ can't complain got a good price and its going to a good home.
Does anyone have the measurement for the position for the screws for the rear sight cover ? from the top of the fore-end down and form the barrel band, only ask as I've got a cover and the original screws but never fitted them, will pass them on the new owner.

There is a jpg scan of the old instructional charts for these carbines floating around the Net, and probably to be found on a link very near this one.
No dimensions for the location of these screws is apparent, but they appear to be located longitudinally, halfway along the rear sight bed and about half way between the top and bottom of the fore-end at that point. See photo 1 above, for the general idea.

Don't have my measuring apparatus handy at the moment, but a quick look indicates that the center point of the screw would be very slightly above the lateral centerline of the forestock, and again, very slightly aft of where 350 yds would be on the backsight bed. If you'll give me a day or two, I'll dig up the calipers and be more precise.
