The photo was on Pfc. Clarks page - not sure if he is in the picture but the website is fitting tribute to our fallen

The way it used to be, a Corporal leading his men because he's the senior rank...orangemen are out in force squealing on the Germans.

M1icon to the left has lost his piling swivel...nice lockbar sight and forged trigger guard. I'd like to look at the stampings on his rifle...

Note the field dressing tied to the Corporal's arm...never seen that before.
    Regards, Jim

Stacking swivels were sometimes removed or else they were taped. Ref: Billy Pyle's book "Ordnance Tools, Accessories & Appendages of the M1icon Rifle" page 67 lists Tape. cellulose muzzle cover Stock No 53_T-1085 Expendable. This black tape was used on the muzzle or stacking swivel or sling swivels while on patrol

Interesting that all of the M1icon's on display of glider troops in Holland had the sling swivel removed. It seems to have been SOP to reduce rattle.
Real men measure once and cut.

Bob - maybe only the 101st? Below Picture is 82nd perhaps D-Day vs Market garden?
