COLT production of extra receivers in 1916 1917

During 1916 and 1917, Colt was directed to supply Springfield Armory with "extra" receivers to be used in the repair of existing pistols, apparently COLT produced 5000 replacement receivers that year in the serial number range 210387 to 215386.

I've not found much info about it, I wonder if some 1911 guru on this forum could help me with more info about it.
