Garand Field Manual - Serial Numbered?

Ran across this on Etsy:
WW2 U.S Army M1 Garand Field Manual

Do you think that number after the name is the serial number of his Garand? It wouldn't fit with the date the book was printed but who knows.
Thought it was interesting. Anyone here have that serial number??

Whoops. Nevermind. That's one too many digits isn't it? Oh well. Still neat.

That's probably what it is.

I am familiar WWII serial numbers I have not seen one that started with a "U" before. Name is also not listed in the WWII data base of individuals in US Army.

I took the number to be a bad "6"... 62220122 Would that make any difference?

The numbers for the US Army serial numbers would only go to 4 and different letters. The achieves I have checked has no one in the US Army by that name in WWII.

I was issued service number RA12833125. Draftees in the Army were issued numbers beginning with US. National Guard numbers began with NG while Reservists used ER. ervice number US 53310761 belonged to a moderately famous tanker in the Third Armored Division. The named a Mess Hall at Ray Barracks in Friedburg after him.

I know of someone that enlisted in the U.S. Army at Ft. Snelling, Mn. in April of 1944. His serial number was 37593965. It would appear that the number on the Field Manual you mentioned, if a serial number, would be some time prior to Apr. 1944.

Hmm, quite interesting. I did find some free databases to search and this number did not come with any hits.
I suppose this one will remain a mystery.
