The second guy with binoculars is looking at the Okinawan Fu Dog (Shisa) the same way I look at my Lab when he decides to fumigate the living room. 
I was going to comment on "Where's the M1
?" but now I see it at the base of the statue. Looks like a Winchester and the serial number suggests it was manufactured in May of 1943.
