Koh Samui Bizare Encounter!!!
We have been away on hol's on a cruise and went to a place called Koh Samui which is typical of the areas visited like Singapore & VN though the latter was showing the signs of the abject poverty that lingers in the back ground.
Anyway at this island it was much the same flea markets, fish stalls and so on with my wife and I wandering around doing the touristy thing.
As we were walking we went past a shop and I mean a shop displaying M-15-16 style rifles in 22 cal with some Ruger 22 S/A pistols and stainless S&W's 8 shot 38 Spl as well.
We had earlier past a range and thought this was a place where you booked to go there and have a shot from the weapons.
Now bear in mind this is a shopping district with food stalls, Spa's and all the usual vendors that populate the tourist regions.
So I said we will go and have a chat to them and see whats what with having a shot as it has been a few years since I fired a wheel gun. (A 500 S&W in Qld some 5 years ago)
Plus I never let a chance go by to have a crack out of rifles or handguns.
(My Cu Chi shooting was fun will talk about that latter, I broke a Garand
! not really)
Anyway my wife and I enter this shop and straight away I see an angled back wall with a heap of sand bags in front it was a longish shop with about 15 meters of shootable range.
So I asked do they fire weapons here yes sir do I want to have a shot well is the pope catholic!!!
Now this shop has no booth you stand in to receive the weapon nor does it have the guns wired to the bench just a table with a small screen on the right hand side.
I brought 10 rounds for the 38 Spl and had to demonstrate to the chap I knew how to load and fire the H/gun he was happy so loaded 2 x 5 round cylinders and the rest is on paper.
They were not hot loads but they were not far off all being loaded with wad cutters I was pretty happy with what I did, used the Weaver stance unsupported.
As the gun had to me an unknown amount of rounds the front of the cyl was black as and the forcing cone was about the colour of tar but the trigger was nice.
I was aiming at about 1 1/2" towards the 9 o'clock position level with the center of the "X".
How utterly weird to just walk into a place with relatively no security in the shooting I mean if a baddy came in paid the dosh loaded the gun they could hold people to ransom.
I did not get to see behind the counter but neither attendant was packing a side arm as happens in the U.S it was practically a weapons free environment.
