If in nice shape they bring about $650-800

I think they are pushing more like $800. Saw one a few years back at 400 I think and passed on it, kicking myself. sigh.
These are probably the best ever built AK from a build standpoint though the thumb hole detracts and the muzzle mess as well for the real AK look.
The receiver is the thickest of all AKs (stamped and milled) and the bore is chromed as is the OP rod. Ran some corrosive though mine and not an issue.
While its the usual awful AK trigger its a dual hook and I am told the best out there.
If you decide to change the stock, keep in mind it is a 922R reg and to be fully legal needs 5 or 6 (still scratching my head) US parts.
I went with a Deadwood stock (3 parts) and a Magpul magazine (also 3 parts) and its legal.
While rare, I know of one case that someone who knew what they were looking at (Fed) at a shooting range confiscated one that was not legal.
If it has no magazine in it, then its a non issue, only if a magazine in it is it a functional rifle. You don't have to get rid of the mags, just don't use them in public.
I got a 10 round as it fits better for me.

Fortunately you don't have to hump it...and it gets lighter with shooting. Behooves you to shoot faster...
