308 enfield Stock fit a 303 Enfield
I have been on the hunt for a stock that has a inlet for a magazine cut off for quite some time. I just found a 308 stock for cheap that doesn't have the inlet. Figured I may as well have my carpenter friend cut it for me. Will the stock fit my 1907 No1 Mk1***.

The 2A/2A1 forestock should fit your SMLE I***, subject to some modifications. The cut-off area you already know about. If your rifle has the bolt-head charger guide, there will be a gap in the new stock which is inlet for the fixed charger bridge. You might also find some difference in the barrel band arrangement. (I have a 1906 Mk I* with Mk III forestock on it)

If you're going for a correct restoration this wouldn't be the thing to use. The reinforcing band across the back end would be an obvious fault.
