Another "New" Shooting Iron
New to ME anyway...S&W Model of 1917, SN 106XXX...Just when I thought they were all "taken," up pops this one with 11 Half Moon clips. 9 of them loaded with some WW2 .45s
Not perfect, and I paid too much, but they arent all that common any more, or so it seems to me.

Drooling
Naw, whatever you paid, it was worth it. Piece of history there.
I like old pistols.

You didn't pay too much, but possibly you bought too early. They ain't makin them anymore.
Wait a couple of years and what you paid will sound like a bargain!

Dont know what you consider "too much" but those start in the ballpark of a grand.
I would love to buy one but US military pistols are way big money.

Nice find there Ken, you didn't reveal how you came about finding it.
Mr. Wilson, don't fret about the price he paid. Ken told me that he was independently wealthy. Right now I am looking through my modists collection of firearms for something really different to sell to him so that I can continue to retire and do so in style.

Well, John, since you ask, one of the "old boys" that I exercise with 3 times a week told me a long time back about his Dads rifle from WW1, which I subsequently bought. (Its posted on the 1917 Enfield Forum) One day we were sitting around the table waiting to be checked out and talking with members of the incoming "class" about how spendy guns were becoming these days when another old timer mentioned that he had a .45 revolver. Everything went downhill from there.
As far as me being independently wealthy, however, I usually say this:
If everyone had my wealth, they would all be on the corner selling pencils out of a tin cup. I know you probably have several guns I would be interested in, but I could only offer a pittance for them
