My '43 1903A3

People probably get bored with these type of threads. Anyway, my Uncle, now deceased, left me this '03, which I've had it in the back of my gun locker for a while now. Curious what the serial numbers might reveal if anyone would know.
I'm assuming the M84 scope is post war, perhaps Korean War era?

I agree, always will look at a 1903.

SN does not mean a great deal other than to place it where an A4 mod was done. It seems to be an A4 but.......

Not my area but will do some checking. It would seem not to be a clone. I think it should have a mark after the A3 (A4 was not punched in). I don't see it but may not be looking.

I can't see the scope mfg and not familiar with those either.

You can look up the SN for mfg and then see if the barrel date matches up.

It does have a mark below the SN which is right but its an odd one. A quick check says its the right SN range for an A4.

If so you have an extremely valuable gun not just in terms of personal connection but monetary and it should be locked up in a safe and pictures sent to the CMP group to see what they think (those are the experts)

Bolt handle picture is needed as well, that is a major indicator as well.

I'll take a look at the scope again to see if there's a mfg. manufacturer's name. I'll get a photo of the bolt handle as well and post that.
And yes, everything is locked up tight.

Just for the intel, who at CMP should I contact? Link?

Receiver tail and bolt of an M1 for good measure? Were you checking to see if we looked at the pics? Nice '03/A4 rifle...

The data plate on the M84 scope indicates one made by Libby-Owens-Ford. Black screws are correct for this low numbered scope. R. Wendel made scopes share the serial number range of 1 - 10,000 (interspaced), but have a slightly different style data plate.

Was I checking to see if you looked at the pics? Seems pointless to ask for an informed assessment without them don't you think?....but thanks, I feel a bit robbed that my Uncle passed away before I was able to pick his brain about the reason he collected the pieces he did. I'm just glad that he trusted me. It's that simple really.

I was talking about the two pics of M1 rifle parts, the receiver tail and the small of the buttstock markings and the bolt. Both of your last two pics are of an M1 rifle, not your 1903A4... If you'll look...

This afternoon after work, I took a few more. Hopefully it answers remaining questions. I looked over the scope for any additional stamps, and there were none. I did include some of the bolt and a couple of full length photos. Hope that helps
