I kept an issue sling on mine as much as possible. I never used my 1907 slings for shooting so there was no worry about breaking them. I had newer ones from the '60s that usually served well. The canvas slings were not a problem to obtain though.

My various No.4's have standard wedding slings, although one has the longer Bren webbing sling, and my Fulton Regulated No.4 wears a M1907 style sling.
No1Mk111 has webbing sling
P14 has M1907 style sling
L42 look-a-like has M1907 style sling (i believe its a Brownells repro)
When competing in Service Rifle comps in my part of the world, your expected to have "as issued" style to suit your particular rifle/s
and for no other reason than i had them laying around, my sporter .22 wears a Nagant sling and sporter .223 has M1907 style sling

I use standard webbing sling on all. On a few of them they are only attached by the front /stacking swivel so that I can use them for stability when shooting. Actually they work quite well round the upper arm if you keep them tight.
