M1 carbine newbie - question about good looking stock

I have done a lot of "forum digging" to find answers about stocks...

And after doing a lot of research, and comparison of stock markings, I have a question about a stock that I am thinking about purchasing...

Does this stock look "correct"? Thank you!

I am a little suspect of it because of the clear and crisp markings.

Closer pictures of RSG and boxed S'G' along with the CC needed.
Look for a paint/stamp inside of the stocks op slide channel... and get a side view of front profile.

Bruce, I wondered the same thing. On the (2) examples I have, the markings are much closer. Also, I wonder about the diameter of the CC compared to the square box - even though we can't see the CC very well, it almost looks too large. The oiler slot looks wrong, but probably just the angle the photo was taken from - neither of mine has a chamfer on the edges of the slot. - Bob

The prime marks are at severe angle on the S’G’ in box. Is restamped with fake cartouche. Either Larson or Harrison used photos of a fake sg in box. All later stocks oval cut also have a distinct feature the fakers leave out. The earliest IP and S”G’ I-cuts also do not have this feature but they are real.

Thank you for the advice. I ultimately did NOT purchase this stock. It was selling on eBay for $400. Someone else ended up buying it.

Hmm, I cannot find this listing on ebay. Then again they are making it difficult in looking for ended auctions.

This one strikes a chord. There is a seller on Gunbroker that has stocks that look brand new, because they are!
Not saying the OPs is one of them but look at the buttplate area, looks never sanded.

think the first picture says it all, looks like a new stock, no marks and it looks more like stain not RLO or similar as well as the stamp distance from each other....IMO of course.
